Elwood Pitch

ElwoodA curious and enterprising thirteen-year-old, Elwood Pitch is forced to give up his happy life in the country when his father takes a job near Boston, Massachusetts. Missing his old friends and angry with his parents for taking him from his home, Elwood is lonely and miserable. His devoted dog Slukee is a comfort in his unhappiness. He also finds solace in the woods near his new house, where he loves to walk.

Exploring the woods one morning, Elwood and Slukee stumble upon a magical path to another world. Lost in a strange wilderness, they meet Drallah Wehr and her raven Booj. Drallah perceives that Elwood has a special connection to the immortal Granashon, the missing protector of the land of Winnitok.

FOLLOWAs Elwood and his companions search for Granashon, the many travails and dangers of the journey force him to grow up fast. Along the way he must cope with separation from his family and the risks of crossing wilderness rife with malevolent creatures. Elwood must also face the demands of a young queen and his own failing faith that Granashon—and a way home—can actually be found.

Nothing can prepare him for what he learns at the journey’s end, when the consequences of following the path between the worlds are revealed.
